Hill Country Village officials are soliciting sealed bids from anyone interested in buying city-owned land.

The background

City officials recently provided public notice about their effort to market three undeveloped parcels of land along West Bitters Road between Tower Drive and Winding Way. Each lot measures 4.5 acres and is zoned for residential use.

According to the notice, the lots will be sold as is and subject to a declaration of restrictive covenants.

The notice stated sealed bids must be delivered to City Hall no later than 5 p.m. June 30. City Council will decide whether to accept a bid or bids later this summer.

A closer look

Local leaders and residents have long debated what to do with the undeveloped land. City officials briefly considered relocating Hill Country Village’s municipal complex to the part of the property but reversed course after getting pushback from several residents.

Hill Country Village voters went to the polls in November to approve a measure, authorizing the city to put the acreage on the market.

Local officials said proceeds from such a land sale could help support construction of a new City Hall facility at the site of the existing municipal complex on Aspen Lane.
