Manny Pelaez, San Antonio City Council member for District 8, is inviting residents to a March 7 town hall that will feature discussions about panhandling and homeless encampments.
According to Pelaez and his council staff members, the town hall—which will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Pre-K 4 SA North Education Center, 3635 Medical Drive—is designed as a public safety program to demonstrate what the city is doing to reduce local homelessness and help keep people safe.
Panelists will include police Chief William McManus and Kim Jefferies, president and CEO of local nonprofit Haven for Hope, which provides unsheltered people with various services.
Pelaez and his team said the panelists will answer questions posed by audience members in relation to homelessness in the community. Light refreshments will be served at the gathering.
People interested in attending the March 7 town hall are asked to RSVP by calling 210-207-0943 or emailing [email protected].
