The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 7 announced the appointment of Jeff Webster as its new president and CEO.

The background

According to a news release, Webster has 35 years of experience in the business community and served two terms on the San Antonio City Council. He most recently served as vice president of business development with Jacobs Engineering Group.

Webster will officially assume his role as president and CEO on Dec. 1, chamber officials said. He will replace Richard Perez, who stepped down as chamber president and CEO at the end of 2022 following 15 years of service to the organization.

Dave Petersen has spent much of 2023 as interim president and CEO. When Webster takes the leadership reins, Petersen will return to his role as the chamber’s executive vice president.

What they’re saying

Webster said he is excited about his new role with the San Antonio chamber.

"I am truly honored to have been chosen to lead the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce,” he said in a statement. “San Antonio and its surrounding region have immense potential, and I look forward to collaborating with our diverse business community, stakeholders and partners to foster economic growth, create jobs and enhance the quality of life for all residents.”

Board Chair Katie Harvey, CEO of KGBTexas Communications, said she and fellow chamber members welcome Webster.

"Under Jeff’s leadership, we look forward to a future of prosperity, collaboration and growth that will make a lasting impact on our vibrant city and the Greater San Antonio region,” Harvey said in a statement.
