Dogtopia, a dog day care, boarding and spa franchise, announced March 9 it has expanded its presence in San Antonio with a new Alamo Ranch location at 11726 Alamo Ranch Parkway.

Franchise owners said dog owners who sign up for any enrollment package during March will receive their first week of dog day care free.

According to a news release, Dogtopia offers a variety of amenities, including an extensive dog evaluation process; rubberized flooring; and a climate-controlled heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.

Representatives with Dogtopia said dogs are separated by size and temperament into one of three playrooms to ensure all dogs have a positive day care experience.

Dogtopia’s playroom attendants, dubbed “canine coaches,” go through a custom curriculum program designed by a registered canine behaviorist, company officials said.

Team members must also complete rigorous training designed by a canine behaviorist on dog body language, behavior and health.

According to the release, to attend day care, all dogs must go through a thorough meet-and-greet session to ensure the safety of all of their dogs, an encounter that includes an overview of the dog’s paperwork, history and health; a nose-to-tail assessment to identify any sensitivities to touch that a dog might have; and more.

Dogtopia’s other services include boarding and grooming. Two other San Antonio locations have opened on De Zavala Road and on East Sonterra Boulevard in the past year and a half with a fourth location due to open later this spring on Broadway Street near Alamo Heights. www.dogtopia.com/
