San Antonio-based Security Service Federal Credit Union on Dec. 14 announced it had raised 5 million pounds in food collections to help feed hungry families. The SSFCU also announced it raised more than $66,347 in donations.

For more than 20 years, SSFCU employees and members have helped collect food and monetary donations to feed families less fortunate in the communities it serves, according to a news release.

The donations will provide approximately 663,470 meals through community food banks in Texas, Colorado and Utah, where the SSFCU has branches, the release said. Additionally, a group of SSFCU employees and their family members helped sort the food for distribution to families.

“Each year we are reminded how incredible our members and our communities are when they come together to help feed those families who are struggling to put food on the table,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, SSFCU senior vice president of corporate communications, in a statement.
