In its second grant cycle of 2024, the McKenna Foundation allocated grants for 16 nonprofits working in mental and physical health and two local education organizations, according to an Aug. 28 news release from the McKenna Foundation.
- Health funding: $494,000
- Education funding: $70,000
The two education organizations that received grants are Canine Classmates and New Braunfels Youth Collaborative, according to the release.
The mental and physical health organizations that received grants, as per the release, are:
- Acacia Medical Mission: awarded $17,500 to expand mobile health services in rural Comal County, targeting uninsured and underserved populations
- RecoveryWerks!: granted $45,000 to bolster recovery programs, including group meetings and individual counseling for young adults
- Hill Country MHDD Centers: received $100,000 to enhance mental health and developmental disability services
- Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County: secured $35,000 for initiatives supporting local children
- River City Advocacy and Counseling: awarded $40,000 to support mental health counseling and advocacy services

The foundation is now accepting applications for its Family Relationships Portfolio, with a deadline of Sept. 9.
