Two boat ramps along Canyon Lake have been reopened to the public for the first time since 2024.

What you need to know

Ramp No. 1 at Canyon Village, and Ramp No. 2 at Canyon Village west have both been officially reopened to the public, Comal County officials said in a news release.

Canyon Lake is currently at 892.4 feet as of 7:15 a.m. on July 24, which is about 68% full, according to data from the United States Geological Survey website.

Just one month ago, the lake was only 46.8% full, meaning that it has risen about 14 feet since June 22.

The background

All of the public boat ramps at Canyon Lake have been closed since the last ramp closed in October 2024, according to the Water Operating District of Comal County.

While the county had been experiencing drought conditions for much of the past calendar year, recent rains that caused devastating flooding throughout Central Texas and the Hill Country have raised levels significantly.
