New Braunfels City Hall and other city facilities will be closed Dec. 24-25 in observance of the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day holidays and on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day, according to a Dec. 11 news release from the city.

The following facilities will also be closed during these holidays, according to a Dec. 11 news release from the city:
  • Municipal Court
  • Public Library (Main Branch and Westside Branch & Community Center)
  • Civic and Convention Center
  • Parks & Recreation administrative offices
  • Fischer Park Nature Education Center
  • Solid Waste and Recycling administrative offices
  • City Recycling Center

Here are additional details regarding closures and service modifications, according to the city’s news release.

Residential garbage and recycling collection will shift forward by one day if regular collection days falls on a holiday or the day after.
  • Collection scheduled for Dec. 25 will shift to Dec. 26; Dec. 26 collection will shift to Dec. 27.
  • Collection scheduled for Jan. 1 will shift to Jan. 2; Jan. 2 collection will shift to Jan. 3.
The city recommend residents to place bins at the curb the night before, as trucks can arrive as early as 6:30 a.m.


Both branches of the Public Library will have modified hours from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Dec. 23 and Dec. 26 for Christmas, and on Dec. 31 for New Year’s.

The recreation center will operate from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Dec. 26, and from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The course will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 and remain closed on Dec. 25. Regular hours resume on Dec. 26. For New Year’s, the course will close again on Jan. 1.
