Windcrest 9/11 Remembrance Race & 1 Mile Walk
The second annual 5K race and one-mile walk will honor those lost on 9/11. All proceeds will benefit the Windcrest Volunteer Fire Association and the Windcrest Police Department. The event will have awards for different age groups.

Canyon Lake Professional Firefighters Association invites the community to participate in the Sept. 11 Freedom Walk at Overlook Park. Firefighters will begin the ceremony up the dam, followed by a remembrance ceremony, community walk and celebration. The event will have parking and shuttle service at Dam Red Barn at 7 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.

Viola’s Ventanas Restaurant will have a remembrance ceremony honoring the lives lost on 9/11. A keynote speech will be presented by Dr. Tim Westley, followed by brief remarks from the San Antonio Fire Department.

Legacy Traditional Schools will honor first responders and military personnel with a flag ceremony. A complimentary breakfast will be given to first responders and military personnel following the ceremony.

The Travis Manion Foundation will host a 5K run or ruck and a one-mile run, in honor of the heroes of 9/11 and service members who served in the wars that followed.

The festival will begin at the same time as the 9/11 Heroes Run at Mission County Park with family-friendly entertainment, games and veteran-owned food trucks. The event is open to all active-duty military and veterans, first responders and families. There will be organizations onsite for veteran resources.
