Hops for Hope, a fundraiser put on by Hope Hospice, will feature a new music event to benefit the Hope Hospice Foundation.

What’s happening?

The Gruene Guitar Singer-songwriter Competition is part of the nonprofit’s third Hops for Hope event, which runs from 1-10 p.m. at the 'Old' Tavern in the Gruene.

Ten singer-songwriters will compete for a charitable cause as part of the Hope Hospice Foundation’s first singer-songwriter competition.

According to a news release, the local artists are currently working to raise enough money to earn a chance to perform in the competition. Friends, the community and family members are encouraged to cast their vote via the Givebutter platform. Voting will run through Aug. 17.


Schedule of events:
  • 1-4 p.m., Family-friendly fun cornhole tournament, ax-throwing competition and a gamer competition
  • 4-7 p.m., Live performances and a judge panel for the top 10 finalist singer-songwriters, culminating in the announcement of the Gruene Guitar Champion.
