The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court on Aug. 6 ordered the general election for Nov. 5.

What you need to know

The election will feature county positions including:
  • County attorney
  • Sheriff
  • County tax assessor-collector
  • County commissioner, Precinct 1
  • County commissioner, Precinct 3
  • Constable, Precinct 1
  • Constable, Precinct 2
  • Constable, Precinct 3
  • Constable, Precinct 4
Of these positions, Precinct 1 county commissioner and county tax assessor-collector are the only contested races.

The Precinct 1 county commissioner race ballot will include Republican candidate Jacqueline “Jackie” Ott and Democratic candidate Nahomie Alanis.

In the county tax assessor-collector race, Republican candidate Daryl W. John will run against Democratic candidate Jesus Trinidad Jr.


All other county races listed are uncontested, meaning the individual candidates in those races will be sworn in following the canvassing of votes.

Michael Carpenter will continue serving as Precinct 3 county commissioner, and Joshua Ray will become the new sheriff of Guadalupe County, following election results.

What’s next?

Alongside county elections, cities have until Aug. 19 to call for local elections to be held on Nov. 5.


Early voting for this election is scheduled to begin Oct. 21. Leading up to the election, information about polling locations and other election details will be available on the county website.
