Comal ISD officials broke ground on a new, 15,400-square-foot campus for the district’s Life Bridges Transition Program on Sept. 2.

The overview

The new campus—which is being funded by Proposition A in the district’s 2023 Bond program—will be located behind Goodwin Frazier Elementary School. The Life Bridges Transition Program works with young adults with disabilities ages 18-21, utilizing instructional pathways and community-based experiences to increase students—referred to as team members—independence in family and community settings, according to the district’s website.

Over 90% of team members go on to full-time and part-time jobs and certifications because of the program’s assistance, Superintendent John Chapman III said.

“This would not be possible without our local businesses and our agencies that work hand in hand with us, each and every day,” Chapman said.

Notable quote

Chief of Operations Mark Stahl said the project represents the district’s deep commitment to supporting all students in CISD.

“Life Bridges ... is more than a program; it’s a pathway to independence, confidence and a meaningful engagement in the community,” Stahl said. “The new campus will provide a purpose-built environment where team members can continue developing life skills in a safe, inclusive and empowering environment.”

Looking ahead

The campus is slated to open or be completed in spring 2026, according to the district's website.
