The New Braunfels ISD board of trustees approved Future Focused 2030 on Nov. 11 at a school board meeting.
This five-year strategic plan outlines goals to address student needs and improve district operations in areas such as communication culture and wellness.
The plan, developed through community collaboration, provides a framework for guiding the district's decisions and aligns with its mission: “Every Student. Every Day.”
What you need to know
Superintendent Laurelyn Arterbury presented the plan, emphasizing its focus on measurable outcomes and strategies to guide the district’s future.
The plan was shaped by feedback from the community, including 12 focus groups and over 3,100 survey responses collected between late September and mid-October. According to district documents, key findings highlighted strengths in welcoming environments and identified areas for improvement, such as mental health support, campus consistency and career readiness.
The specifics
Each pillar includes specific strategies and goals, according to the district.
The plan focuses on four key pillars:
Pillar 1: Increase access to academic, behavioral and emotional support
- Provide students with the academic, behavioral and emotional support they need.
- Increase resources, professional development and staffing aligned with student support.
- Make learning more engaging and relevant for students.
- Expand opportunities for career-focused learning experiences.
- Increase involvement from students, parents, staff and the community.
- Ensure families, students and staff feel heard and valued across all campuses.
