Comal ISD plans to install interactive flat panels across all its schools in an $11.6 million initiative, as discussed at an April 24 board meeting.

The details

The budget was allocated within the framework of the 2023 bond, CISD Chief Information Officer Scott Monroe said.

The total cost of the project covers expenses such as hardware, installation, training services and contingency funds, Monroe said.

Clear Touch was selected as the vendor for the interactive flat panels based on its high scores in usability, features and teacher feedback, CISD Digital Learning Specialist Kristen Atkinson said. The selection process involved gathering feedback from teachers and stakeholders through interactive demonstrations from various panel vendors, she said.

The panels selected are Google for Education certified and offer advanced features for improved teaching and learning, Atkinson said.

“Interactive flat panels enhance the learning experience for our students,” Atkinson said. “The panels allow for multiple students to interact at once; everyone gets a chance to contribute and collaborate."

What’s next

Implementation is scheduled to begin in June, with a phased rollout to be completed by November, Atkinson said, ensuring that teachers and students have access to the new technology before the start of the new school year.
