The Texas State Technical College is introducing two new technical programs to the New Braunfels campus for the fall semester, according to an April 29 news release from the college.

The details

The New Braunfels campus—located at 2189 FM 758—will offer certificates of completion in the Industrial Systems Mechanic program, according to the release, including:
  • Electrical welding
  • Structural welding
Students can enroll for the fall semester, which starts Sept. 3, according to the release.

What they’re saying

Joshua Schneuker, executive director for the Seguin Economic Development Corp., says he aims to support big-name companies moving to the Austin and San Antonio areas, targeting industries like automotive and semiconductors, according to the release.

“With TSTC here ... it is only going to help strengthen our existing workforce development ecosystem and strengthen our marketing efforts to prospective companies to be able to tell them we have an institution like TSTC in our backyard,” Schneuker said.

The Industrial Systems program will offer both theoretical and hands-on training, providing a pathway to a career in industrial maintenance or manufacturing, said Edward Chaney, TSTC’s director of alignment for Industrial Systems.

What else?

These new programs follow the launch of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Systems: Advanced Manufacturing Technology in August 2023. This was provided through a partnership with Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education Lone Star Chapter, according to the release.
