Chago Serratos, owner of Cancun Mexican Restaurant in downtown New Braunfels, plans to reopen his brick-and-mortar after a devastating fire in 2022.
The details
According to Serratos, he is waiting on construction permits and plans to reopen in December. A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows the new building will be more than 3,500 square feet and cost around $486,000.
“It’s an honor to still be working,” Serratos said. “We have 20 years of experience in this industry and are happy to have a new place.”
Serratos said there will be no changes to the menu, which offers Mexican seafood and Tex-Mex dishes. Cancun currently operates out of a food truck outside the lot where the former building was at 636 S. Seguin Ave. Customers can order street tacos and more from the food truck Thu.-Sun., from 6 p.m.-1 a.m.
