New Braunfels Utilities will relocate its customer solutions center to 1488 S. Seguin Ave., the city’s former police department building, starting Jan. 6. The move is part of a broader plan to improve service and prepare for a new headquarters slated for 2027, said Reagan Peña, NBU’s director of enterprise communications.

The details

The Main Plaza drive-thru will permanently close on Dec. 13, followed by the lobby on Jan. 3, 2025, Peña said.

The new Customer Solutions Center will feature a larger lobby, in-person support, and a drive-up payment drop box, Peña said. It also eliminates service disruptions caused by downtown events that frequently affect the Main Plaza location, Peña said.

“We’ve loved serving customers here, but we have to close a lot because of all the different things that happen on the Plaza, which is really awesome for the community ... but it does have impacts on our customers,” Peña said. “The new place will not have those kinds of closures or traffic impacts.”

A closer look

Kelso said the new headquarters will bring operations together, making work more efficient and meeting the community's growing needs.

“This facility lets us serve customers better today while planning for tomorrow,” NBU CEO Ryan Kelso said.

NBU bought the building from the city and saved over $300,000 by reusing materials and using internal teams for renovations, Peña said.
