Gina Ortiz Jones wins runoff election for San Antonio Mayor
With all 182 polling locations reporting results in the June 7 runoff election, Gina Ortiz Jones won the mayoral race with 77,484 votes, or 54.30%, with Rolando Pablos receiving 65,202 votes, or 45.70%, according to unofficial results.
In early voting, there were 102,726 ballots cast, which represents 12.21% of San Antonio's 841,653 registered voters. Factoring in election day, 143,017 total ballots were cast in the runoff election, which represents 16.99% of San Antonio's registered voters.

Plans for Hwy. 46 overhaul in the works in New Braunfels and Seguin
As traffic continues to increase along Hwy. 46 in New Braunfels, the Texas Department of Transportation, or TxDOT, is proposing a transportation project geared toward improving safety and mobility along key corridors in Comal and Guadalupe counties.

Although in its early planning stages, the project focuses on two sections of roadway: Hwy. 46 from I-35 and I-10, and I-35 from S. Walnut Avenue and FM 306, according to a presentation from an April 23 New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation luncheon.

$40M hotel breaks ground in New Braunfels near Guadalupe River
Developers with Oldham Goodwin broke ground on a new $40 million hotel in New Braunfels called SpringHill Suites by Marriott on June 6.
About the project
SpringHill Suites by Marriott, located at 738 I-35 N., is being constructed next to the existing Courtyard by Marriott hotel, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Hacienda del Rio hotel and bar opens in New Braunfels
A new hotel named Hacienda del Rio opened near the Gruene Historic District at 1273 River Terrace, New Braunfels, in June.
The hotel takes the place of the old Gruene Outpost River Lodge.

Ivalis Meza Gonzalez and Misty Spears win in San Antonio runoff election for District 8 and 9 seats
With all 182 polling locations reporting unofficial results for the June 7 runoff election, Ivalis Meza Gonzalez won the District 8 race with 9,351 votes, or 57.35%, with Paula McGee receiving 6,955 votes, or 42.65%.
Misty Spears won the District 9 race with 13,852 votes, or 56.74%, with Angi Taylor Aramburu receiving 10,563 votes, or 43.26%.
