A mini-golf course with a historical twist opened in Gruene's Historic District in March at 1632 New Braunfels St.

The details

The nine hole mini-golf course—called Gruene Mini Golf—is sandwiched between The Pomegranate and Gruene Outfitters.

Gruene Mini Golf is owned by Gruene Texas Golf Club and John Paul. The experience is an "adventure through the past," according to the its website.

How it works

The decorative course is themed around the rich history of Gruene, with famous landmarks like the Gruene Water Tower and Gruene Dance Hall scattered throughout the greens. Each of the nine holes has a dedicated landmark to putt through, around or under.

“We just made it as historical as we could get,” Manager Gregg Bailiff said.

Other creative obstacles include life-sized cowboy boots and barrels zooming down the Guadalupe River.
