Cybersecurity industry takes off in San Antonio

Jeff Webster, CEO and president of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, said that as the largest cybersecurity hub in the U.S. outside Washington D.C., San Antonio is uniquely positioned to be a leader in cybersecurity for decades to come.

This is why state legislators are eyeing San Antonio as the site for its Texas Cyber Command.

“The sleepy town of San Antonio is on the cutting edge of cyber [security],” Webster said. “And this Cyber Command is one more rock in the foundation of what we’re going to do for cyber here in this community.”

Judson ISD looks to close 3 schools to cut costs

Judson ISD’s board of trustees discussed closing three schools, increasing student-teacher ratios in the classroom and reducing salaries for District of Innovation Teachers on May 15 as a way to save the district money.

The three schools facing potential closures are Judson Middle School, Candlewood Elementary School and Franz Leadership Academy.

Multifamily development sees progress in New Braunfels

Construction on a new multifamily development—previously known as Prose Lonesome Quail—is anticipated to be completed in Q1 of 2026 in New Braunfels.

The apartment complex, located at at 128 Lonesome Quail, is now being called New Braunfels Heights, Gentry Bowden, director of Buchanan Capital Partners, told Community Impact.

TxDOT announces summer I-35 NEX lane closures

As construction on the I-35 Northeast Expansion Program continues, drivers in the area may experience road closures while commuting through San Antonio this summer.

Free summer music festival announced at San Antonio Botanical Gardens

This summer, the San Antonio Botanical Garden and Alamo City Arts will host a free all-day music festival featuring over a dozen musical performances. Make Music San Antonio will take place on June 21 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. across the garden's 39 acres and appeal to all ages.

Make Music Day is a global celebration inspired by France's Fête de la Musique that takes place on the summer solstice in over 1,000 cities, according to a news release.
