Taylor Reber realized the importance of having a gym community after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the closing of gyms and other businesses across the country, which is what inspired her and her husband, Grant, to open their own gym in New Braunfels.

Einhorn Training Co. opened its doors to the New Braunfels community at 149 Ferryboat Lane in October 2020.

What they offer

Led by one of six trained coaches, Einhorn Training Co. offers one-hour functional fitness classes at various times throughout the day.

“Functional fitness is taking the normal movement patterns that we do in everyday life and training them in the gym, maybe at heavier loads or higher rep counts so that way life in general feels easier,” Reber said.

Training modalities include strength training, weightlifting, plyometrics, Olympic lifting, static exercises and gymnastic skills.

The membership-based gym also offers personal training sessions. All programming is written in-house, meaning workouts are not outsourced from a general company, Reber added.

A membership for unlimited classes costs $175 per month. Individuals can purchase a three days a week membership which costs $150 per month or pay a $25 drop-in fee per class.

Diving in deeper

Taylor said they like to think of ways to give back to the place they call home. The locally-owned gym hosts different quarterly events and benefit workouts for local nonprofit organizations—like Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area and Crisis Center of Comal County—throughout the year.

In their own words

“Just start,” is Reber’s advice for those who may feel intimidated by gyms like Einhorn Training Co.

“You don’t have to be in shape to get in shape,” she said. “Don’t let fear stop you from showing up—just show up and give us what you got and we’ll meet you where you are and we’ll help take you where you want to go.”
