Eric Quintanilla, owner of Staunch Traditional Outfitters, aimed to create a lifestyle brand that resonates with customers and stands out in a saturated market by staying true to the brand and incorporating modern twists on traditional designs.

“I wanted to create a brand that would become a household name in the apparel world,” Quintanilla said.

The background

Quintanilla’s passion for apparel, creativity and love for fishing was the inspiration behind launching his brand in September 2015.

Prior to starting his company, Quintanilla worked in the oilfield while working on several retail projects before finding success in headwear. His love for the outdoors sparked the idea of elevating outdoor traditional hats.

“I like that my expression of art definitely is displayed on me as I'm walking. I like shoes, bright colors, all of that stuff,” Quintanilla said. “I implemented that into the brand and I think that is what's helped the brand stand apart in such a saturated market.”

Staunch Traditional Outfitters offers a wide range of curved and flat snapbacks. One of Quintanilla’s designs features a line of perforated hole hats which allow ventilation for avid outdoor enthusiasts. His designs include a wide range of trendy colorways that cater to all styles of fashion.

“I always want to design and innovate as much as I possibly can,” Quintanilla added. “I think that there's always room for it.”

Quintanilla’s creative vision and determination for his brand has granted him collaborations with collegiate teams, Whataburger, The Texas Wildlife Association, David Danforth, among others.

What’s in a name

The name of the store is coined from Quintanilla’s love for the outdoors.

“I was very dedicated to my tranquil space and it made sense to name the store after something I love and that I’m so committed to,” Quintanilla said.

The storefront opened in downtown New Braunfels in August 2022 and also offers items from Quintanilla’s second shop, Natty’s Menswear and Hux + Mila, which is owned by his wife Taylor Quintanilla.
