The site of a former school in Seguin was converted into a mixed use space for a variety of local businesses, and now has a large outdoor beer garden area and stage for live music, movies and other entertainment.

Long story short

The school building holds businesses such as Seguin Music Shed, Paramount Barber Lounge, Suburban Running & Recreation, Ursa Botanicals, Mikey’s Philly Cheesesteaks, sMAC’n Noodles and more.

The main bar and entertainment area was reopened by new ownership this summer, said Rocio Gutierrez, general manager of Seguin Schoolyard.

“It’s going to be three bars in one. We do have a concession stand, outside center bar and then the sports bar which will be inside,” Gutierrez said.

The family-friendly venue will also host family movie nights and sporting events on its 20-foot screen along with ticketed concert events beginning in the fall, said James Mahan in an email, one of the co-owners of Seguin Schoolyard.

“From what we know it is the largest screen of its type in the region,” Mahan said. “Because of the size of the facility we have a permit in place to begin hosting ticketed concert events this fall.”
