New Braunfels’ newest addition, Tea Charmers, has opened its doors downtown, offering a space for tea enthusiasts.

The background

Owner Jayna Owens started a mobile retail tea business in June 2023, before moving into the brick and mortar location.

The shop is designed to be a sensory experience, with tester jars for customers to smell and sample the different teas.

The shop offers a range of products and experiences, including:
  • loose leaf teas and flavored iced teas
  • tea accessories
  • bath and body products
  • herbs for custom tea blends
  • photo opportunities
  • event hosting
About the owner

Owens found her inspiration for the tea shop during her travels to Africa and India.

“[People] stop everything for tea time,” Owens said. As an American accustomed to a busier, nonstop lifestyle, Owens observed that people in these tea-growing regions take intentional breaks for tea, pausing their activities to relax and engage in conversation. "I realized, after time, I was actually more productive [after tea time]."

Owens' goal for the shop is to create a place where people can take a break from their busy lives and enjoy a moment of calm, she said.

"I want people to be able to create like this place of refuge to have tea and like, stop the business and live within their own house," Owens said.

The shop will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony July 24.
