A developer recently released renderings for a planned senior living community in the La Cantera area in northwest San Antonio.

The background

Officials with Dallas-based nonprofit Forefront Living released the latest renderings of Bella Vida, a 26.5-acre community the developer plans to erect near I-10 and Loop 1604.

According to representatives with Forefront Living, Bella Vida will contain 164 independent living apartment units; 40 villas with attached garages; and various amenities, such as a salon, a spa, a fitness center, a pickleball court, an indoor swimming pool, wellness programming and dining options.

A Feb. 21 news release states Forefront Living’s leaders selected Dallas-based company Three Living Architecture for the Bella Vida project. Three Living’s team produced designs for Hotel Emma at Pearl.

Forefront Living CEO Tim Mallad said designers at Three Living Architecture understand his and his colleagues' vision for Bella Vida. Mallad added the Bella Vida renderings depict numerous key elements, including spacious floor plans, gathering places, natural breezes, and inviting dining and function areas.

"We are creating a community that is raising the bar and exceeding expectations of what is possible in senior living,” Mallad said in a statement.

Mallad also said the design offers a vision of innovation at Bella Vida and takes into consideration the site’s natural surroundings, including foothills of the Texas Hill Country. For example, outdoor space is woven throughout the community without compromising the sizes of each residential unit, and large parking lots are swapped out for indoor garage spaces with charging stations.

“We are committed to creating a physical and programmatic environment that allows individuals to live their personal best and most beautiful life,” Mallad said in a statement.

According to officials with Forefront Living, Bella Vida will open in late 2026, but initial registration is already open for residents.A developer recently released renderings for a planned senior living community in the La Cantera area in northwest San Antonio.
