The Project Funding Agreement for the Fair Oaks Ranch civic center has been terminated following a June 19 decision from City Council.

Before the termination, $1.2 million was allocated towards the project from the Municipal Development District. This decision follows a June 5 decision to indefinitely postpone the project.

What’s happening?

With total project costs exceeding $2.4 million and council postponing the project, City Council voted to terminate the agreement, freeing up the original $1.2 million allocated to the project.

Termination does not mean the cancellation of the project, and City Council can reapply for MDD funding in the future.

City Manager Scott Huizenga said the hard work staff put into the project leaves the city in a position to move forward if revisited.

“While we are not moving forward with the project at this time, I am proud of the work that was done and confident that that work will leave us well-positioned if we revisit this idea in the future,” Huizenga said.
