As pickleball gains more traction in the Boerne area, a dedicated space for the sport has been established at Boerne City Park.

This change will be temporary, and following the construction of courts at the upcoming Northside Community Park, will transition back into tennis courts.

The details

The park, which features eight courts for tennis, had two courts resurfaced to meet needs from the pickleball community. Six pickleball courts were created.

To use the courts, park guests can stop in the pro shop located next to the courts to pay to play. This fee is $5 for Boerne residents to play for an hour and a half, and $10 for non-residents to play for that same amount of time.

Yearly membership options are also available, with residents receiving a discounted membership fee.

How we got here

Members of the pickleball community in Boerne have advocated for dedicated courts at the city park until the construction of courts at Northside Community Park.

In February, city staff closed the courts for the resurfacing project, splitting tennis courts into pickleball areas.

The Northside Community Park project is expected to break ground in the summer.
