A Hill Country winery, situated about 20 miles from Boerne, has officially unveiled a new addition and tasting room.

Bending Branch Winery, located at 142 Lindner Branch Trail, south of Comfort, is one of the closest wineries to Boerne, according to owner and expert winemaker Bob Young.

What’s new

Young said the new tasting room is in the original house built on the winery’s property back in the 1800s.

“It surrounds the original settlers’ cabin from 1840, which was before Comfort even existed,” he said. “We’ve been wanting to do this for a long time.”
The new tasting addition also includes separate smaller areas like a piano room and living room. (Andrew Creelman/Community Impact)

The new area is split into different sections, which include the main tasting room and bar, a living room, a piano room and a smaller seating area where guests can view some features from the original 19th century home.

“It’s got a bunch of unique and different settings throughout the building here,” Young said.

Looking for a libation?

Bending Branch is unique compared to other wineries in the Hill Country because not only do they produce and offer Texas-made wine, but they also offer flights from California vineyards and distill two brands of whiskey, Young said.

“We touch a lot of the bases that people are looking for, it’s very unique,” Young said.
The winery also offers its own brand of whiskey, a unique trait that makes it stand out, owner Bob Young said. (Andrew Creelman/Community Impact)

The winery is one of the closest to Boerne, offering a shorter trip for those who want to experience the scenery of the vineyards, Young explained.

They also host clubs, events, tours and a run merchandise store in the new tasting room.
