Construction at several Round Rock ISD campuses will kick off this summer, as the district continues progress on improvements funded by the 2024 bond.

The details
Facilities improvement updates shared in May include:
Athletic facilities
- Lighting replacements completed at Round Rock and Westwood high school softball facilities; McNeil, Round Rock and Stony Point baseball facilities.
- Lighting replacements in procurement for McNeil, Stony Point and Cedar Ridge high school softball facilities; Cedar Ridge and Westwood high school baseball facilities; middle school competition football and soccer fields at Canyon Vista, Chisholm Trail, Pearson Ranch and Walsh middle schools.
- Turf replacements for Chisholm Trail, Hernandez, Hopewell, Pearson Ranch and Walsh middle school fields will begin this fall, and are planned to conclude late next year.
Infrastructure
- Replacing 3-foot-by-8-foot aluminum marquees at Bluebonnet, Callison, Chandler Oaks, Deep Wood, Gattis, Robertson and Union Hill elementary schools, as well as Chisholm Trail and Hopewell middle schools, by mid-August. Fifteen more are in production, with all 42 anticipated to be installed by late December.
- Second phase of water bottle filling station replacement. Ninety-two filling stations and drinking fountains will be installed at 32 campuses this summer.
- Replace stage curtains at Berkman, Brushy Creek, Cactus Ranch, Chandler Oaks, Herrington, Sommer and Walsh elementary schools.
- Replace indoor lighting with LEDs. Completed at 32 campuses; in progress at Brushy Creek, Caldwell Heights and Joe Lee Johnson elementary schools; 15 more elementary schools to be completed by end of August.
- Door hardware replacements completed at Cactus Ranch Elementary School; Hopewell Middle School and Union Hill Elementary School to be completed this summer and fall.
Vehicles
- The district purchased 40 new buses to update its fleet, now made up of 30 77-passenger buses and 10 special-education 54-passenger buses. All regular route buses will be equipped with seat belts and cameras.
