Mike Farr has been working for years to move his music venue, Nutty Brown Amphitheater, to Round Rock. However, it will now be known by a new name—Round Rock Amp.
Word of the rebranding came via a Feb. 1 news release and included a lineup of big-name musical acts scheduled to start playing April 8.
A representative for Round Rock Amp confirmed Feb. 1 that Nutty Brown Amphitheatre, which was previously expected to open at the former McNeil Park in Round Rock under the same name, will cease to exist. The original Nutty Brown property off of Hwy. 290 West in Southwest Austin is set to become an H-E-B with plans to break ground as early as March.
Farr's efforts to relocate Nutty Brown to Round Rock were delayed several times for various reasons in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
