Round Rock to debut traffic pattern changes on 2 A.W. Grimes intersections in December

New traffic patterns will emerge along A.W. Grimes Boulevard in Round Rock following the implementation of left turn signals beginning Dec. 8. The two impacted intersections are A.W. Grimes Boulevard at Old Settlers Boulevard along with A.W. Grimes Boulevard at Gattis School Road.

The changes come following the Round Rock Transportation Department's annual traffic signal operations, according to a Nov. 25 city news release. The aim of the review is to "assist traffic flow as the city grows and traffic patterns change and evolve," per the release.

A.W. Grimes Boulevard at Old Settlers Boulevard

The current signal patterns allow "protected-permissive" left turns with flashing yellow arrows. The flashing yellow arrows will change and become a protected left turn at all four approaches with left turns now only allowed with a green arrow.

A.W. Grimes Boulevard at Gattis School Road

The current signalization for left turns along eastbound and westbound approaches is protected for only left turns. The current northbound and southbound left turn signalization is protected-permissive, denoted with flashing yellow arrows. The new signalization will remove the flashing yellow arrow, with all approaches using protected left turns only.
