Travelers in North Kyle may experience delays as a result of a lane closure on Kohlers Crossing for the installation of new water infrastructure.
The overview
On Sept. 21, the right lane of westbound traffic on Kohlers Crossing between FM 1626 and Benner Road was closed. The closure supports the installation of a 24-inch water transmission line, according to a city news release.
The water transmission line will run from the FM 1626 tanks, located on the north side of the bridge over the train tracks, to the water well at the corner of Benner Road and Kohlers Crossing.
The line will supply more water from the FM 1626 Pump Station to the well site. Once completed, the line will enhance the city’s water system and support the delivery of consistent and reliable water pressure throughout the community, according to the release.
Looking forward
The lane closure is expected to last through December. Access to Cromwell Drive, Everett Street, Burnham and Benner Road may be impacted at times.
Access to the Brick and Mortar district, including the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center, Sprouts and other nearby businesses, will not be impacted by the construction process, according to the release.
Also of note
On Sept. 26, a vehicle accident damaged the recently installed traffic signals at the Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Crossing intersection, according to the release. The intersection is currently operating as a four-way stop.
