Pflugerville City Council approved at its Jan. 28 meeting the first ordinance reading for a budget amendment to its fiscal year 2019-20 budget to account for maintenance costs related to its water treatment plant. The item was approved off council's consent agenda, meaning no discussion was held prior to council's vote.

The budget amendment would help complete performance improvements identified at the city's Surface Water Treatment Plant, according to city documents. Expenditures are related to infrastructure improvements, such as water membrane repair, Contact Time Study infrastructure improvements, a Manville interconnect relocation and an additional drain pump, among others. The costs of the budget amendment, as listed in city documents, is $500,000 for maintenance and repairs and $25,000 for equipment.

A second ordinance reading must be held prior to official approval of the budget amendment.
