Discussion spanning two Hutto City Council meetings led to the approval of outside agency funding for several area nonprofits. On Thursday night, the City Council voted 7-0 to nearly double the donation to Hutto Has Heart, one of nine agencies and 11 funds to receive financial help. Another motion passed 6-0 for Hutto YMCA funding in three categories, totaling $11,000. Mayor Doug Gaul recused himself from the discussion and the vote, telling the council his daughter is employed at the YMCA.
