Patricia Thompson hired as Richardson Adult Literacy Center's executive director

The Richardson Adult Literacy Center announced April 8 the addition of Dr. Patricia Thompson as the nonprofit’s new executive director.

Thompson joins the RALC with more than 25 years of experience as a nonprofit executive and plans to lead the organization as it expands the impact on the community, according to a press release.

"I'm looking forward to partnering with the staff, volunteers, donors and [the] board to enhance our services and expand our reach,” Thompson said in a statement. “More than ever, there is a great need for English-literacy skills, and RALC is here to provide a very valuable service to the health and welfare of the community.”

She will be replacing Sonali Patnaik in overseeing the growth and development of the nonprofit organization, according to the press release. The RALC is designed to meet the needs of hundreds of adults in Richardson who require English as a Second Language support.

“As much as we are saddened to see Sonali Patnaik accept another opportunity, we are looking forward to working with Patricia,” RALC Board President Rane Burress said in a statement. “I believe I can speak for the board of directors when I say we are excited to experience Patricia's leadership as the executive director as she continues to grow RALC in the service of our community."

Thompson’s first outing as executive director will be at the center’s Murder Mystery event, which is scheduled April 9.

“I’ll be able to connect with the community and have the opportunity to participate in the live and in-person event to be held at the Richardson Public Library,” Thomson said.
