Richardson Public Library will hold a grand reopening for its newly renovated facility Nov. 21 at 1 p.m., according to a news release from the city.
The library has been operating out of a temporary location since 2023, when renovations began on the existing building. The temporary location closed Oct. 11 to allow time for staff to move materials into the renovated library.
The overview
The renovation adds about 6,000 square feet to the library, including a larger children’s room, expanded teen areas and a bigger local history section, per the release. The main entrance was also relocated to the southeast side of the building.
Input from residents, library staff and community stakeholders helped inform the library’s renovations and new design, per the release. The library will also display new public artwork, including a colorful suspended installation in the children’s area and an exterior sculpture.
