Richardson officials announced Feb. 15 that Illinois-based painter Karina Llergo will be the featured artist for the Cottonwood Art Festival, which will be held May 6-7 at Cottonwood Park.
According to a city press release, Llergo’s unique painting style captures the energy of the human body in motion, inspired by her lifelong participation in dance, skydiving, yoga and competitive swimming. She has attended a variety of art festivals across the U.S., earning a number of best-of-show and outstanding-achievement awards for her work.
Llergo was born and raised in Mexico City, where she received her bachelor’s degree in graphic design as well as advanced degrees in multimedia, animation and abstract art, according to city officials. Her art will be featured on festival T-shirts and other promotional material as well as in a booth centrally located at the festival.
More information on Llergo, including a gallery of her work, can be found on her website.
