Trustees in Richardson ISD will decide Aug. 24 whether to cancel the Nov. 3 election after learning that candidate Bridgett Hudson has dropped out of the only contested race.
The district was notified in early August of Hudson's intentions to pull out of the race for At-Large Place 6, according to agenda documents. Hudson was pitted against newcomer Eric Eager. Now that the race is uncontested, Eager is a shoo-in for the seat.
At-Large Place 6 currently held by Justin Bono, former board president, who announced in January he would not seek reelection at the end of his term in May.
Bono agreed to stay in his position until the November election, which was initially scheduled for May. In March, Gov. Greg Abbott authorized May elections to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
