Richardson City Council appointed members of a new commission and set a time frame for them to review City Council district boundaries in light of the latest census data.
The city charter requires council to appoint a commission every 10 years to review the boundaries and ensure population equality among them, according to a staff memo.
The council, which approved the appointments at its Jan. 24 meeting, said the process should take about six months.
The Richardson City Council has four districts. Council members who represent those districts must live within their district’s boundaries. But they are all elected at-large by the city’s voters along with the mayor and two other council seats.
