Here are 10 projects that are are upcoming and ongoing in Prosper and Celina, according to both their capital improvement websites. This list is not comprehensive.
Upcoming projects
1. First Street widening
Project: First Street will be widened from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided suburban roadway between Dallas North Tollway and Coleman Street. The project includes concrete curb and gutter roadway, underground drainage improvements, and water line.
Update: The project is in the preconstruction phase.
Project: Coit Road is being constructed to a six-lane roadway. This project will focus on the design and construction of four-lanes from Prosper Trail to Frontier Parkway. This is the second phase of a Coit Road project with the first phase actively under construction.
Update: This phase of the project is in the design phase and expected to start construction later this year. The funding for the project funds both Phase 1 and Phase 2.
Project: The project will construct a three-lane road from Preston Road to First Street.
Update: The project is in the design phase and expected to start construction later this summer.
Project: Coleman Street will be widened from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided roadway between Gorgeous Road and Prosper Trail.
Update: The project is in the design phase and expected to start construction later this year or early next year.
Project: The project will remove and replace the existing Hillside Drive pavement, water and wastewater infrastructure.
Update: The project is in the design phase.
6. Coit Road Phase 1 widening
Project: The project is constructing four-lanes of an ultimate six-lane concrete roadway from First Street to Prosper Trail. The project will be done in two phases with another phase being done from Prosper Trail to Frontier Parkway.
Update: The project is under construction and expected to wrap this summer.
Project: The project will replace the asphalt roadway with two concrete lanes along Oklahoma Drive from Pecan Street to Malone Road.
Update: The project is under construction and expected to wrap later this year.
Project: CR 552 will be reconstructed from FM 428 to Outer Loop.
Update: Construction is expected to be completed later this year. The project was planned to be redone as a concrete road but because of project costs it was changed to be a resurfacing of the existing asphalt road, according to the city’s website.
Project: Choate Parkway will be reconstructed from a two-lane roadway to a six-lane divided roadway from Coit Road to Roseland Parkway. The project is shared between the city and the adjacent subdivision developer.
Update: The project is divided into two phases and under construction.
Project: Sunset Boulevard is having its asphalt replaced and improved from Preston Road to Coit Road.
Update: The contractor is currently working on Phase 2 subgrade work between Brookshire’s and east of KC Robinson Lane, according to the city’s website.
