A new facility meant to address child hunger will open in Prosper.
Children’s Hunger Fund, the main organization behind the project, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility May 2.
The organization estimates that the new Prosper facility will distribute more than 100 million meals to children living in poverty. About 14% of North Texas residents live in poverty, according to Children's Hunger Fund. Of those residents, about 20% are children who experience poverty.
The facility, dubbed as a volunteer center and poverty encounter experience, will be about 85,000 square feet when completed.
