Prosper ISD is starting the months-long process to hire a new superintendent, according to a district news release.
The district is working with Impact Education Consultants, an education consulting firm, to identify candidates for superintendent.
Doug Williams, a partner at Impact Education, presented a timeline to fill the position by the end of the year at a June 17 board of trustees work session.
The approach
The search process will start with community input to determine what PISD teachers, parents, students and administrators are looking for in a superintendent.
“We’re not going to be going after the best superintendent,” Williams said. “We’re going to be going after the best superintendent for you.”
Community members will be able to provide feedback through in-person sessions and an online survey expected to go out the week of July 14, Williams said.
Based on that feedback, the consultants will put together “a profile of the ideal superintendent,” he said.
According to Williams’s presentation, the board will solicit applications in late July and begin interviewing candidates around Labor Day:
The new superintendent is expected to start sometime in the fall semester, giving them time to learn the district before planning for the 2027-28 school year starts in the spring, Williams said.
The context
PISD is looking to replace former superintendent Holly Ferguson, who announced her retirement in March.
Deputy Superintendent Bill McLaughlin was named acting superintendent of schools in May and will oversee the start of the 2026-27 school year until a permanent replacement is found, Williams said.
