Personally owned fireworks are prohibited within city limits, according to the Plano Police Department. Recent high winds can also increase the risk for a fire to start and lose control, Minton said.
Minton added officers can confiscate personally owned fireworks from residents and issue citations. Fines can cost up to $2,000 for violations, according to the Collin County Sheriff’s office.
