The North Texas Irish Festival will move to Denton from Dallas in 2027, according to a news release from the organization.

The festival will be held at the North Texas Fairgrounds, the location of the North Texas Fair & Rodeo, from March 13-14, according to the release.
The festival celebrates Irish and Celtic music, dance and culture and includes events and entertainment such as live music, dance shows, storytelling, food, education and art exhibits.
“Denton is proud to become the new home of the North Texas Irish Festival,” said Kristi Criswell, executive director of Discover Denton. “We look forward to the positive impact it will have on our hotels, restaurants, businesses and attractions, while giving visitors the opportunity to experience the hospitality and creativity that make Denton such a special destination.”
The 2027 event will have multiple stages for live music, Irish step dancing performances, cultural demonstrations, historic storytelling, vendor and shopping opportunities, activities for children and authentic food and beverages, the release states.
“Denton is known for embracing music and creativity,” said Sheri Bush, entertainment director of the North Texas Irish Festival. “Those values align perfectly with what the North Texas Irish Festival has represented for more than four decades. We’re excited to become part of the Denton community while continuing to welcome attendees from across Texas and beyond.”
The music lineup, ticket information and other additional details will be announced at a later date, according to the release. Approximately 500 volunteers will help in the organization, promotion and execution of this year’s festival, the release states
The backstory
The North Texas Irish Festival started in 1983 and has been located in Fair Park in Dallas since 1984, according to the organization’s website. It is produced by the Southwest Celtic Music Association, a Dallas-based nonprofit.
Since its inception more than 40 years ago, the North Texas Irish Festival has been held every year in March.
