Upcoming projects
Project: A 2.91-mile stretch of SE Inner Loop in Georgetown will be widened to a four-lane, divided road from Hwy. 29 to FM 1460. A shared-use path for pedestrians and bicycles will be added on one side.
Update: The city is in the process of acquiring the right-of-way needed for the project. Design is complete and officials anticipate it to go out to bid in July.
Austin Transit Partnership approves Light Rail maintenance building construction, land acquisition contracts
On April 15, the agency approved a contract with Kiewit Austin Partnership—a joint venture between Kiewit Building Group and Austin Commercial—in an amount not to exceed $25 million for the construction of an operations and maintenance facility as part of Phase 1 of the project.
The facility will serve as the light rail's home base for the trains to be cleaned, serviced and maintained, and for the system's operators to work out of, said Brad Cummings, ATP senior vice president of procurement and contracts.
The agency also approved a resolution not to exceed $230 million to acquire up to 18 parcels of property to use as part of Phase 1.
Ongoing projects
Project: The project features two express lanes in each direction on US 183, a general-purpose lane to bring the number of non-tolled lanes to four in each direction, new shared-use path connections, new sidewalks and cross-street connections for bicycles and pedestrians.
Update: According to the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, ongoing nighttime lane closures are expected through at least May as crews perform roadway surface milling and paving, installation of final pavement markings and pavement cleaning.
Project: The city of Round Rock is reconstructing Greenlawn Boulevard from an existing four-lane divided roadway to a six-lane divided urban roadway with pedestrian and lighting improvements.
Update: Per city officials, the traffic pattern was adjusted in March, reducing a portion of Greenlawn Boulevard to one lane in each direction.
Significant traffic shifts at New Hope, 183A intersection in Cedar Park
Beginning March 30, Cedar Park drivers will notice a significant change in the traffic patterns along New Hope Drive—from Main Street to CR 180—specifically the intersection of New Hope Drive and 183A Toll.
Dubbed the “183A Innovative Intersection” by the city, the left-turn lanes along the 183A frontage roads will operate differently, following a new route across the intersection to merge onto New Hope Drive.
This project is part of ongoing road improvements and economic development in Cedar Park and is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2027.

Zilker Multimodal Improvements
Project: The city added a new 0.7-mile shared-use path around the Zilker Botanical Garden and enhanced bus stops as well as a crosswalk signal and crosswalk across Barton Springs Road at the Botanical Garden.
Update: City officials celebrated the completion of the project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in early April.
