Pflugerville downtown utility study to pave way for future improvements

A new utility study will catalog existing utility infrastructure in downtown Pflugerville and identify possible improvements.

Pflugerville City Council approved a $157,370 contract with CobbFendley & Associates, the engineering firm that will carry out the study, at a March 14 meeting.

The city previously conducted a study of downtown utilities as part of an update to its downtown action plan, but city materials indicate more comprehensive data is needed before moving forward with any projects.

During the new study, CobbFendley will drill test holes to collect in-depth subsurface utility engineering data on the downtown area.

Once the study is complete, possible projects could include relocation, repair or resizing of utility infrastructure downtown, according to city materials.

One specific project officials have previously discussed would move power lines and other utility infrastructure underground.

CobbFendley will present its findings by March 2024.
