Hutto receives resident feedback on FY 2025-26 budget

The city of Hutto received input from 305 residents, business owners, visitors and employees between Feb. 18 and March 7 as part of its budget “speed dating.” The survey garnered public opinion on several city departments as part of the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget process.

The results

Common results show a desire to manage growth in a sustainable way, according to the city’s result summaries. Recurring themes include addressing roads and infrastructure, city communication and fiscal responsibility.

Primary concerns for city spending included allocating resources to the city’s infrastructure, with responses across the board focusing on roads and utility systems.

Respondents proposed prioritizing infrastructure improvements over other services and suggested fixing existing roads and sidewalks, widening roads in developing areas, and generally improving traffic flow.

The responses also emphasize a need for better communication, transparency and public involvement from the city. Residents showed a desire for information about what’s happening in Hutto, especially in finances, projects and City Council decisions.

What’s next

Hutto will hold a budget workshop March 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cottonwood Creek Elementary, where residents can rank spending suggestions. The interactive workshop will provide breakfast and child care.
