Lake Pflugerville to have art installed along walking trail

Through the program, local artists can submit proposals for art pieces in Pflugerville parks, open spaces and city facilities.

Art proposals undergo review by the Pflugerville Library Board, the Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Commission, or the Pflugerville Planning and Zoning Commission, depending on the piece's proposed location.

Officials said there is no specific theme or subject matter required for proposals, but reviewers will consider how the piece reflects Pflugerville's culture and community.

This year, the budget for the AIPP program is $150,000, the release states.

“Public art supports cultural tourism, economic development, graffiti abatement, nurtures the creative culture in the community and enhances quality of life and community vibrancy,” the release states. “The art is reviewed and approved by our resident boards and commission volunteers.”
