The Pearland Economic Development Corp. presented its prosperity plan at a special City Council meeting Feb. 24. The prosperity plan is a result of several months of work, PEDC board member Brandon Dansby said.
“It presents an opportunity to continue growing with quality from an economic standpoint and I think it was well done,” Mayor Tom Reid said.
The newest parts of the plan focus on a making it easier for businesses to come to and thrive in Pearland, diversifying the city’s housing stock and promoting a culture of inclusion in the city, according to the PEDC’s presentation at the meeting.
One of the big changes of the plan is that it focuses more on investing in the businesses Pearland already has, with recruitment taking a backseat, Council Member Trent Perez said. Perez served on the steering committee for the plan, as did Council Members David Little and Luke Orlando.
