Pearland City Council granted initial approval for a plan amendment to increase the budget for projects in Shadow Creek Ranch, particularly to improve the library in Shadow Creek Ranch and infrastructure, particularly FM 521. The estimated cost for the two projects combined is $7.7 million.
The amendment was originally discussed during a meeting for Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2, which is the TIRZ that encompasses Shadow Creek Ranch. The amendment increases the budget, which is necessary to expand the library, according to the city’s budget agenda.
“I’m happy to see that we are moving forward with the library,” Council Member Adrian Hernandez said.
The money will increase the size of the Pearland Westside Library in order to allow for more meeting space and fit the Brazoria County Tax Office, said Assistant City Manager Trent Epperson, who presented the item to council at the Nov. 25 meeting.
